We were invited by deTour 2017 Harmonious Chaos to setup an artwork in PMQ.

Artist Statement:

《The Time of Harmony》
Twenty metronomes are placed on a hanging plane. Audience could freely set the rhythm of metronomes. At first, all metronomes have their own rhythm.
After a while, metronomes with similar rhythm tend to synchronize until all to be in sync. This phenomenon could be explained by the Kuramoto model. Just setup a hanging plane and wait.

We often have 3 misunderstandings

1.
Unique rhythm: This is the era when we always emphasise on free will and personal choice, where such free will could take over all of our judgments.
2.
The hanging plane: How often do we review the base of our judgments, whether or not it is affected by others?
3.
On surveillance: We never know whether or not we are being watched. No matter CCTV is in function or not, it is functioning.

《和諧的時間》
20個被調到不同拍子的拍子機放在懸吊面上，觀眾亦可任意調校拍子機。最初所有拍子機會以各自的頻率搖擺，之後搖擺頻率最相近的，會慢慢趨向彼此搖擺頻率的中位，並逐漸同步。這種趨向在不同
的相近頻率拍子機群發生，直至全部擺幅同步。這個現象稱為趨向共振（Kuramoto model），我們需要的是一塊懸吊面和時間。

作品的三個誤區：
1.獨特節拍：在這個強調自由意志及個人選擇的時代，我們常常誤以為個人意志能夠掌管一切判斷；
2. 懸吊面：我們何曾檢視過作出判斷的基石是否踏實，是否不受他人左右？
3. 被監察：我們無法知道自己是否被監察，而不論監察裝置是否運作，監察作用已形成。
